孔子的形象在后世被赋予太多的色彩,从平民孔子到圣人孔子,从某种程度上说,春秋战国时期孔子形象的神化、成圣之路,也就是先秦诸子经典文本的形成过程。从原生态孔子的描述与《论语》经典,到《孟子》《荀子》《庄子》《韩非子》等经典借助孔子的言论或形象作为自己学说的立论之本,再到孔子形象的客观描绘与《吕氏春秋》经典的生成,以及孔子的负面形象与《晏子春秋》《墨子》等经典的形成,都深刻地体现了先秦时期的孔子形象变化与先秦诸子经典文本形成之间极为密切的内在关系。

The image of Confucius is endowed too much color in later ages, which turned him from a civilian to a sage. In a sense, the sanctification of Confucius in the Spring and Autumn and the Warring States period also meant the formation of classical texts by philosophers in the pre-Qin times. From the description of original Confucius and the classic The Analects of Confucius, to Mencius, Xunzi, Zhuangzi, Han Feizi and etc. which set up their theories with the aid of Confucius’ speech or image, and then to subjective portrait of Confucius’ image and the formation of Lü’s Annals, as well as the negative image of Confucius and the formation of the classics of Mozi and Yanzi’s Spring and Autumn Annals and other classics, all deeply reflected the close internal relationship between the changes of Confucius’ image in the pre-Qin period and the classical texts by philosophers at that time.
