晚清一代政论家中，梁启超先生的美国观有其独特的历史价值，其名著《新大陆游记》对于美国特别是美国宪法与美国政制观的考察，迄今仍发人深省，系值得珍视的一份学术—思想—文化遗产。梁启超可谓“中国的托克维尔”，《新大陆游记》亦可视为出自中国人手笔的“中国版的《论美国的民主》”。

Among the political commentators in the late Qing period, Liang Qichao’s standpoint on America has special value in history. As one academic, intellectual, and cultural heritage worthy of our cherish, Liang’s investigation on America, especially on the Constitution of the United States and the American political system in his famous work A Trip to the New World are still thought-provoking to this day. Liang may be “China’s Tocqueville”, and his A Trip to the New World can also be regarded as the “Chinese edition of Democracy in America” written by Chinese people.
